Love Comes West

Love Comes West is a 33-minute documentary about Meher Baba's trips to England and the United States.  It celebrates Meher Baba's work in the West and His impact on the Lovers and followers who waited lifetimes to be with the Lord.  Meher Baba said His mission was to bring together all the World's Religions like ‘Beads on a String’.  And the West had a part to play in this.  Love Comes West gives an excellent overview of the various aspects of Meher Baba's work in the West from 1931 in London, to 1958 in America.  It covers his contact with early Lovers, with public figures in the film world, his travels to New York and his work in Hollywood.  The documentary takes the viewer through the excitement of Baba's first arrival in the West, to the despair his Lovers felt when he and his women mandali had an auto accident near Prague, Oklahoma where Meher Baba spilt the blood He had to spill on American soil.

Love Comes West was lovingly produced by Michael Le Page from a project developed by Chris Ott, Cheryl La Rosa Longo and himself for the "Love Comes West", a day-long event held at the Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Meher Baba's first visit to America.

Samadhi … The House of the Lord

Samadhi … The House of the Lord is a 35-minute presentation on the history of Avatar Meher Baba's Tomb-Shrine, known as the Samadhi.  It is a wonderful and poetic story of our Beloved's Samadhi, which was built and decorated under the Lord's supervision.  It opens and closes with Jeff Mylett's wonderful song "The House of the Lord".  The narration is beautifully underscored by the superb guitar playing of Tuck Andress.  Included is a brief history of Helen Dahm, the Swiss artist who painted the murals inside the Tomb, and a commentary (in audio) by the Australian poet Francis Brabazon on the purpose of pilgrimage.  There are several video clips, along with many still images of Meher Baba and His Tomb-Shrine.  On seeing the presentation at Meherazad, India, Arnavaz Dadachanji commented “It was so very beautiful it broke my heart” and later said “The film made me miss Baba so much.  And the song throughout the film was perfect”.

This is an excellent introduction for those who plan to visit the Samadhi, and even for old-timers who may be surprised by what they learn.

The Ancient One – The Life of Avatar Meher Baba

The Ancient One was originally conceived as an audiovisual presentation with live performers for Baba’s 90th birthday celebrations held at the Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco, in 1984, and after a long gestation (and several minor incarnations) a DVD has been born!

This DVD combines still images and video clips to tell the story of Baba’s life.  Narrators include John Krchniack as Baba’s “voice”, Peggy Rock, Doug Ross, Jamie Dillon, Sebastien Baker, Patti Cathcart, Sue Jamison, David Miotke and Billy Ward.  The soundtrack is underscored by the as-always exquisite guitar-playing of Tuck Andress.

Murshida Connor, head of Sufism Reoriented, commented on viewing The Ancient One:

“I was impressed with the straightforward, clear and comprehensive way in which the significant events of Beloved Baba’s advent were described.  Not only was I impressed with these most helpful qualities of the narration, I also thought the illustrative pictures were sensitively chosen.  It seems an especially ideal film to show those just coming to learn of Meher Baba, who want a simple way to understand the scope of His work.  For those already with Baba, it is a wonderful review.”

Originally created by Cheryl La Rosa Longo and Michael Le Page, it has been produced as a DVD by Michael Le Page.

Additional Information

NTSC

The colour TV system in Australia and New Zealand is PAL.  If you wish to play DVDs made for the USA home market (most of the DVDs offered on this website are of this kind), both your player and television set need to be NTSC-compatible.  Fortunately, most DVD players sold in Australia can play both PAL and NTSC formats, and most newer TVs are NTSC-compatible.  So far, few people had problems, but the onus is on you to check your DVD player and TV manual.

Personal and Apple computers with a DVD drive can almost always play both PAL and NTSC discs.

DVD Regions

All DVDs sold through the Meher Baba Film and Video Project are region-free.  They should be playable in all parts of the world, subject to the colour format mentioned above.
